Men's Tarcutta Waxed Cotton Jacket - Navy

In the mid 1800's, sailors and passengers travelling to Australia, wore coats of sailcloth dipped in whale or linseed oil. They added a rough cape of the same fabric to give their shoulders extra protection from the "Roaring Forties"

Australian Bushmen picked up on this idea, treating their coats with oil or beeswax and added the saddle vent. They further refined the design by developing a formulation of waxes and resins to make the modern version even more water resistant and more comfortable to wear.

The coat is now recognised around the world as the "Australian Coat". Thomas Cook now offer an Waxed Cotton Jacket with features including a strong front zip with stormflap, four external pockets (including two large cargo pockets with side entry hand warmers), inner security pockets, cord trim for added comfort and sherpa lining for extra warmth.

Care: Always hang to dry naturally after use, away from heat or natural flame. To clean, use a sponge or soft clothes brush. Do not use hot water, soap, detergent, or ant cleaning agents. Do not iron or dry clean.
